Description

Job Summary: In the A&R Research role, you would be responsible for identifying and evaluating emerging talent and trends. You’d be conducting thorough research, analyzing data, and reaching out promptly to Artists/Producers/Songwriters and their teams. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, passionate about music, highly analytical, and possesses a keen ear for identifying promising talent and trends.

Key Responsibilities:

Research:

  • Conduct comprehensive research to identify emerging artists, songwriters and producers. Actively monitor and report on trends across various platforms (e.g., streaming services, social media, live performances etc).

  • Analyze socials, charts, playlists, and industry publications to stay updated on current trends and potential talent.

  • Submit daily reports on new talent

  • Actively communicate status updates on deals with relevant team members.

Outreach / Deal Operations:

  • Actively reach out to new and emerging artists based on research for potential signing opportunities.

  • Run point on organizing and coordinating deals for new signings.

Strategy / Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with marketing and digital teams to align artist A&R development strategies with market demands and opportunities.

  • Build comprehensive plans in order to execute music release rollouts that positively impact artist growth.

  • Book recording sessions across label and publishing roster.

Industry Insight / Network:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and advancements impacting the music industry.

  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and strategic discussions with insights on emerging trends and talent.

  • Actively build a network of industry contacts to aid in artist development / label business development.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in A&R, music research, or a related role within the music industry.

  • Strong passion for music across various genres and a deep understanding of current musical trends.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., Excel, Music Connect, Billboard etc)

  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to travel and attend events outside regular working hours.
