A Special Message is an adorable, wonderful book full of important ideas for discussion. It is not a how-to book. A how-to book teaches what the author thinks is correct for everyone.

A Special Message was written with different intentions. It was created for families to learn, discuss, and implement new ideas together. The goal of this book is to share information that will start positive changes for a healthier family and a healthier world.

I was a primary school teacher for 14 years. I have learned that children love to talk! They love to be heard and recognized. There were many teachable moments that changed everything I had planned for the day to meet the needs of a child.

A teachable moment is when you stop everything you were doing, to attend to a new task at hand. It is putting a halt on what you thought should be done and teach what the child wants to learn! A Special Message has numerous ideas for discussion, which I hope sparks many teachable moments.

I hope that the discussion brings a sense of empowerment and the child begins to share their special messages.

How to Use This Book
Here is my vision: The book has been read and a beautiful collaboration time has taken place. Now comes the fun, but critical part of the book. Together put new ideas out into the Universe. It is time to actually set new goals and write them down. (Yes, you can write directly in the slots in the book, copy or trace the interactive pages so they can be used again.) This simple task takes it one step further. Choices have been made to better your world.

How will you eat healthier? Discuss new foods that are healthy and will light up your body. Stop and read the labels. Are any of the words defined by the kiddies a part of that label??? List the healthy foods chosen in the slots provided. If the page was traced or copied, HANG IT ON THE REFRIGERATOR! Check in with each other to ensure that there is follow through.

How are you going to save the planet? Again, fill in the interactive page with wonderful new plans. Are you going to stop bullies or bullying, be more positive, or continue to reduce, reuse, and recycle??? Hang them in a visible location. Others will see you are improving your world and will want to as well.

Help them share! Continue the message by sharing the book, sharing your ideas, and sharing your positive experiences. Be sure to listen, too! Everyone has ideas that are crucial in saving our planet. Now is the time to all come together and share our ideas to spark new goals. Now I challenge you to recognize teachable moments, read labels, share ideas, and spread your special messages. It is amazing how one message can spark such a big, purposeful project!
